justchoose your arduino card and plug your FT232 to your arduino like this (i use an esp32 but it s quite the same): ARDUINO ---- FT232
GND ---- GND
TX0 ---- RX0
RX0 ---- TX0
(VIN ----- VCC) Take care of your voltage but aware of 3.3V or 5V. I prefer to put an USB to my arduino-ESP32 card if possible the intensity provided by FT232 seems to be too low sometimes.

FTDI was supposed to stop doing this after the last time they messed up the driver. If the driver has in fact modified your VID/PID you should be able to get a utility that will restore the PID VID. FTDI made the fix available after considerable customer backlash

The board is self explanatory and is designed to be powered from the USB interface. It uses an FTDI FT232RL USB to UART chip with TTL levels on the serial interface. The datasheet for the chip is is available on the FTDI website.:- DS_FT232R.pdf.
However, the board and chip does support being powered by a +3.3V to +5.25V supply on the "5V" hole for the device core. This is the Vcc pin of the chip.
Now, the hole labelled "VCC" is connected to the VCCIO pin of the FTDI device and in the words of FTDI:- "+1.8V to +5.25V supply to the UART Interface and CBUS group pins (1...3, 5, 6, 9...14, 22, 23). In USB bus powered designs connect this pin to 3V3OUT pin to drive out at +3.3V levels, or connect to VCC to drive out at 5V CMOS level. This pin can also be supplied with an external +1.8V to +2.8V supply in order to drive outputs at lower levels. It should be noted that in this case this supply should originate from the same source as the supply to VCC. This means that in bus powered designs a regulator which is supplied by the +5V on the USB bus should be used."

Iwould recommend staying away from knock-off FTDI chip. Plan B: other serial converters are using other chips but FTDI and they won't give you the level of frustration FTDI drivers may give you (they've been known for bricking knock-off devices). Plan C: buy a genuine FTDI board from FTDI resellers but be ready to fork $$$.

Go to the ftdichip website. Add a dot com to the name of the chip. Go to support and find documents
Under Documents search for install Guides for mac osx. Look for FT232. If the chip is genuine the mac driver listed there should work!
